Publication of a translation by CB Multilingual on Just Transition

The concept of Just Transition emerged in response to new environmental challenges such as climate change, pollution and declining biodiversity. In order to meet these challenges, countries and businesses need to transform economies and societies to become greener, more resilient and climate neutral.

In its “Frequently Asked Questions on Just Transition“, the ILO states that “just transition means making the economy as fair and inclusive as possible for all stakeholders, creating decent work opportunities and leaving no one behind” and “involves maximising the social and economic opportunities of climate action, while minimising and carefully managing challenges, including through effective social dialogue between all affected groups and respect for fundamental principles and labour rights.”

For IndustriALL Global Union, an international organisation based in Geneva, Just Transition is a burning issue, which is of great importance to its work to safeguard trade union interests and decent working conditions for more than 50 million workers in the mining, energy and industrial sectors in 140 countries.

Under the auspices of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, IndustriALL Global Union has just published its Trade Union Good Practice Guide for a Just Transition in English, French and Spanish. As a long-standing translation partner of IndustriALL Global Union, CB Multilingual was responsible for the translation of this guide into Spanish, and is proud of having made a modest contribution to the achievement of the objectives of the Geneva-based international organisation. Although this document is primarily intended for trade unions, it will undoubtedly also be useful for many other interested players who are considering how to enable and even accelerate a Just Transition for all.
